Patient dies after hackers cause IT failure
Police have launched a "negligent homicide" investigation, after a ransomware attack disrupted emergency care by disabling systems at Düsseldorf University Hospital in Germany, which subsequently contributed towards the death of a patient, who was scheduled to undergo critical care, but had to be transferred 20 miles away to another hospital.
It is the first time ever that a patient’s death has been linked directly to a cyber attack and police have said that the hackers involved could be held responsible.
